2:17 Solomon took a census ¹  of all the male resident foreigners in the land of Israel, after the census his father David had taken. There were 153,600 in all.

2 Tawarikh 6:18

6:18 “God does not really live with humankind on the earth! ²  Look, if the sky and the highest heaven cannot contain you, how much less this temple I have built!

2 Tawarikh 19:3

19:3 Nevertheless you have done some good things; ³  you removed ⁴  the Asherah poles from the land and you were determined to follow the Lord.” ⁵

[6:18]  ² tn Heb “Indeed, can God really live with mankind on the earth?” The rhetorical question expects the answer, “Of course not,” the force of which is reflected in the translation “God does not really live with mankind on the earth.”

[19:3]  ³ tn Heb “nevertheless good things are found with you.”

[19:3]  ⁴ tn Here בָּעַר (ba’ar) is not the well attested verb “burn,” but the less common homonym meaning “devastate, sweep away, remove.” See HALOT 146 s.v. II בער.

[19:3]  ⁵ tn Heb “and you set your heart to seek the Lord.”
